Jeff Riley

I joined PartnersInWealth in July of 2015 as part of a close group of professionals with one goal in mind, to bring clients confidence about their financial future.  I aspire to bring clarity to those financial issues that many people ignore due to lack of time or understanding.

As a PersonalCFO I bring with me over 15 years of experience with a passion for comprehensive financial planning.  Most of that time was spent with Prudential Financial where I honed my knowledge with some of the industry’s top experts.  My intention is to save you time and worry by liberating you from the complexities of self-managing your personal finances. I am here to put your mind at ease about achieving your financial goals.

I earned my bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Western Michigan University, Haworth College of Business, Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU®) designation from The American College, and Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) designation from the CFP Board of Standards.

If you were asked “How confident are you about your financial future?” what would you say?  I have asked this question to hundreds of people over my career.  Consistently the answer is “I don’t know.”  There are so many moving parts and variables to consider that it becomes overwhelming for most people.  You have a myriad of statements that come from your brokerage investments, employer 401k/403b, bank accounts, various insurances, and other bills.  Many people will pay the bills as they are due, look over the investment statements, and then file them away having never taken the time to see how they all fit together.  I take all of those pieces, put them together, and show you what your financial picture looks like.  Then, as part of your comprehensive plan, we can evaluate how effectively you are positioned to achieve your specific goals.

As a trustworthy single point of contact, I work every day as my clients’ advocate to make sure they are better off because of our work together.  I will work to understand the entire financial picture and to act as an unbiased sounding board for the unique decisions that financially successful households must make.

I spend my free time outdoors with my wife, Jill, who is a Registered Nurse.  I have performed major classical works with the Kalamazoo Bach Festival Choir in collaboration with the Symphony and Philharmonic. Often I can be found playing guitar or working on my music.  I have an interest in learning about different cultures, food, and enjoy the study of other languages. At Western Michigan University I studied German for 4 years.

As a financial planner, I often wondered if there was a forum to have my plans critiqued by other professional planners.  In 2017, I was introduced to the PlanPlus Global Awards competition for financial planners.  The concept of submitting an actual plan that was created for and presented to a client, to be reviewed by a panel of planning experts, who then provide feedback to aid in the planner’s development is very unique, in my experience.  The fact that the judges are closely affiliated with the Financial Planning Association brings strong credibility, in my mind, to this competition, which is why I decided to enter.
